You have worked very hard to create a human rights inquiry project. I am really impressed with the variety of topics and the depth of your thinking. This project is worth quite a few marks and I am proud of all your hard work!

For Monday, please have all your notes ready to hand in to me.

You will present in small groups of 4 students and one teacher on Monday. Part of your mark will be for the presentation so please practice this weekend. I want to hear you speak clearly, slowly and without hesitation. Your classmates and teacher will ask you questions, so be ready!

A MISSIONARY HOLDING A STARVING CHILD'S HAND

In this picture demostrates that there are still good people in the world...
There is a misssionary who gave his help to the malnourished child, because he did not eat and his hand between missionary's hand looks so skinny, his bones are too close to his skin, so you can know that the child lives in a poor country. It is a reality, so we need to make a change, what are you waiting for? Join up with the good people in the world. We are all one.

Picture assignment- Friday, September 25

This activity is based on the New York Times learning blog:
http://learning.blogs.nytimes.com/category/lesson-plans/whats-going-on-in-this-picture/?_r=0

What’s going on in this picture? Look closely at the image above or view it in a larger size, then tell us what you see by posting a comment. On Friday, we will reveal more about the image and its origins at the bottom of this post.

You will find three pictures on the internet. Here are a few useful sites but you may search in different sites. Make sure that you copy and paste the photos to a new document and save on your desktop.
http://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-33682404
http://photography.nationalgeographic.com/photography/best-of-photo-of-the-day/
http://www.lifebuzz.com/powerful-photos/
http://www.earthporm.com/most-powerful-photos-ever/
After looking closely at the images, think about these three questions:
 • What is going on in this picture?
 • What do you see that makes you say that?
 • What more can you find?
Start a new page in your notebook. Write at least a paragraph for each picture 6-8 sentences. You are welcome to write a longer story than just one paragraph. Please use the thesaurus and do not use any kind of translation device. After you've done a rough copy in your notebook, have a teacher check and initial. Then pick your favourite picture and story and post to this blog. I am looking for descriptive writing, powerful verbs and imagination!
