Picture assignment- Friday, September 25

This activity is based on the New York Times learning blog:
http://learning.blogs.nytimes.com/category/lesson-plans/whats-going-on-in-this-picture/?_r=0

What’s going on in this picture? Look closely at the image above or view it in a larger size, then tell us what you see by posting a comment. On Friday, we will reveal more about the image and its origins at the bottom of this post.

You will find three pictures on the internet. Here are a few useful sites but you may search in different sites. Make sure that you copy and paste the photos to a new document and save on your desktop.

After looking closely at the images, think about these three questions:
 • What is going on in this picture?
 • What do you see that makes you say that?
 • What more can you find?
Start a new page in your notebook. Write at least a paragraph for each picture 6-8 sentences. You are welcome to write a longer story than just one paragraph. Please use the thesaurus and do not use any kind of translation device. After you've done a rough copy in your notebook, have a teacher check and initial. Then pick your favourite picture and story and post to this blog. I am looking for descriptive writing, powerful verbs and imagination!
